Today I was able to take Fred's Dreamworlds OpenSim Installer and was able to successfully create a "MicroGrid" called Lisianthus. It is open to The HyperGrid, and can be accessed at:
One of the really nice things about the DDNS address is it is configurated to automatically update when my home IP address updates (English? It means I don't have to manually edit this all the time which is the #1 cause of why the sim isn't usually up).
I haven't fully decided on the move yet from OSGrid. One of the best things in general is I should be able to take the entire database of the OSGrid Sim and simply upload it to the Lisianthus Grid. This means all the content you've uploaded and all the terraforming you've done would remain intact (hopefully). Don't worry, all the data from the OSGrid sim remains intact on my computer, so if something goes wrong with the Lisianthus Grid (if I go this route), everything we had previously done can be restored on OSGrid.
Maybe we'll even be able to get the NPCs to work and the other problems we had with OSGrid. I am currently testing OS v.0.90 with Ubode Physics. We can easily switch between 0.9 and 0.8.2 as needed and play around with the physics engines to see which one may work out best for us.
For the time being, I will run the two sims (Lisianthus on Lisianthus Grid, and Lisianthus on OSGrid) at the same time, so we can compare, test, and otherwise play around a bit.
Should be interesting to say the least!
